The VisiTank® system is an elegant, economical solution to a complex problem. The system begins with the Rocket™ ultrasonic sensor mounted on one of the openings at the top of the tank. Once per hour, the sensor measures the distance from the top of the tank to the fuel surface in 0.4in (1cm) increments. The measurement is transmitted wirelessly to the VisiTank® Smart Modem which can be located anywhere in the home or facility within 150ft (46m) of the tank.

The Modem stores the measurement and also monitors the health of the system, such as battery life in the sensor. Periodically, the Modem dials out to the Host PC where all measurements are stored in an SQL database. The time interval used for dial-out is set by the Host PC.
